WhatsApp Scam: be alert of International calls or part-time job offers

WhatsApp has become a part of the users’ life, without it many tasks remain incomplete. WhatsApp has billions of users across the world. However, cases of scams often come to the fore on this platform, in which people also suffer huge losses. Recently a new case has come to light in which people are getting calls from International numbers.

These calls are coming from different countries like Ethiopia (+251), Malaysia (+60), Indonesia (+62), Kenya (+254), Vietnam (+84), and others. However, it does not mean that if these calls start with a different country code, then these calls are from the same country.

We all know that WhatsApp call runs through the internet. According to reports, there are agencies working where you live who are selling international numbers for WhatsApp calls in the same city.

In such a situation, one can make international calls from such numbers without any tension or charge. Several users on Twitter have reported receiving calls from international numbers more than once.

Safety measures:

  • What can you do about this? The easiest way to avoid this would be not to answer any unknown international calls.
  •  If you suddenly get calls from an international number, it should be switched off or disconnected and it is best to block the number for extra security.
  • From trying to get your personal details to stealing your money, these scammers can have many ulterior motives.
  • You should never transfer money to any account, apart from this, you should never send your details to any unknown person asking for your personal details.

Apart from calls, job offers are coming through WhatsApp messages in which scammers pretend to be from a reputed company and tell you that they can offer you a part-time job that can be done from the comfort of your home.

In most cases, scammers first entice people by offering a small reward for completing a task. Once the users get their money then they start trusting the scammers after which they get caught in a big scam that can cost them huge losses.

Such cases have come to the fore in the past as well and this matter has also been highlighted by some users on Twitter to raise awareness.
