Warangal: In a mind-numbing incident, a housewife in a tribal thanda was tied to a tree by her alcoholic husband and set her ablaze after pouring kerosene. She breathed her last in the hospital.
The incident occurred in Toorpu thanda under Parvathagiri mandal of Warangal Rural District on Saturday night. Hearing the screams of Rajitha, the neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted her to the MGM hospital. According to the neighbolurs, Banothu Balu is an alcoholic and mercilessly thrashes his wife Rajitha every day. Advice by elders and neighbours not to consume liquor and beat his wife every day, Balu returns home in the night fully drunk and beats his wife Rajitha on some pretext or other.
As usual on Saturday night, Balu returned home fully drunk and thrashed her. Not satisfied with physical torture, Balu tied Rajitha to a tree at midnight, poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze and fled the scene. On hearing her screams for help, the neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted badly burnt housewife to the MGM Hospital where she succumbed to injuries in the early morning.
On receipt of the information, the police registered a case and started a hunt for the accused. (NSS)
