Wrestlers’ Protest: Clash of Support as Ayodhya Seers and Khap Leaders Rally Behind Opposing Sides

The battle between Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the country’s wrestlers is increasing, with the involvement of Ayodhya seers and khap leaders from western Uttar Pradesh. Rakesh Tikait’s khap leaders and farmer organisations have expressed their support for the wrestlers who are protesting alleged sexual harassment by Singh.

In response, Ayodhya seers are rallying around Singh, citing his ties to Ayodhya, the Ram Mandir movement, and calling for a change to the POCSO Act. Seers from various factions have put aside their disagreements to support Singh and plan to attend his planned gathering in Ayodhya on June 5.

The VHP cadre in Ayodhya’s Karsewakpuram is also rallying support for Singh, emphasising his ties to the Ram Mandir movement. Rakesh Tikait, on the other hand, has expressed solidarity with the wrestlers, vowing to fight for their rights and honour. The situation remains tense as several factions align with opposing sides of the battle.
