Yadadri Temple is grand and majestic in every way

With its five-storey and seven-storey gopurams, 36 feet tall main door fixed on Saptatala Rajagopuram, 2.50 lakh tonnes of black granite, gold plated Kalashas, Dwaja Sthambham, Prahalada’s history, Yadadri is grand and majestic.

Sundararajan, the temple’s Stapathi, said the 12 carved Alwars around the Mukha Mandapam that leads to the sanctum sanctorum, the 58 Yali pillars in the first prakara, and the pillars around the outer prakara speak volumes about the temple’s sculpture.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who made aesthetic sculpture works a priority with Sri Krishnadevaraya, has undertaken such a gigantic construction of the Yadadri temple,” said Sundararajan.

It took over 2.50 lakh tonnes of black granite to carve beautiful sculptures. As a result of this work, the Chief Minister has in fact revived the art of sculpting, which was fast disappearing.

He has been visiting temples and different places with temple architect Anand Sai since 2016. Each statue, sculpture, and gopuram was designed during the planning phase. Today, looking at the temple, it is a dream come true for me,” said Sundararajan.

Devotees have the advantage of ample parking spaces downhill (6,000 cars), free shuttle services from Gandi Cheruvu to the top of the hill, and escalators and lifts for the elderly and physically handicapped.

Accommodations in the temple city are owned by the YTDA, and there are about 300 rooms at the temple. There are four suites in each cottage in the temple city and each suite will cost Rs 1,500 per day.

The YTDA will convert the Balalayam into a Ranga Mandapam after the Mahakumbha Samproshana. A grand Ranga Mandapam will be built to accommodate cultural shows, discourses and spiritual programmes in place of the existing Balalayam.
