Yogi Adityanath Challenges Muslim Reservations in Telangana, Promises Reforms

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a recent election rally in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, criticized the Muslim reservations in Telangana, labeling them as an affront to the constitution framed by Dr B R Ambedkar. Adityanath deemed the reservations for Muslims as unconstitutional and expressed vehement opposition to their implementation, accusing both the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress of fostering divisive tendencies.

In his address, Adityanath asserted that the allocation of reservations to Muslims is part of a larger conspiracy aimed at depriving Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Backward Classes (BCs) of their rightful entitlements, characterizing it as a disrespect to the constitution crafted by Ambedkar.

Appealing to the electorate to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, Adityanath pledged that if elected, the BJP would annul what he deemed the “unconstitutional” religion-based reservations and redirect the benefits towards Other Backward Classes (OBCs), SCs, and STs.

Accusing Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of reneging on promises made to various segments of the population, Adityanath alleged that the state government, under KCR’s leadership, had failed to deliver on commitments related to water supply, financial resources, and employment opportunities. He criticized KCR for not upholding the key tenets of the separate Telangana movement, namely the provision of water, funds, and jobs.

Mockingly referring to the TRS as “Bhrashtachar Rishwatkhori Samithi” (Corruption Bribery Committee), Adityanath declared that a BJP-led government would officially commemorate ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ on September 17, 1948, the date when the state, then under Nizam rule, officially merged with the Indian Union.

In his concluding remarks, Adityanath emphasized the need for a “double engine” government in Telangana, aligning with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the continued progress of the country.
