After the increase in cooking gas prices, the commissioner’s task force arrested three people for illegally refiling Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.

Based on credible information, police officers raided various places throughout the city on Wednesday and confiscated twelve cylinders each weighing 16 kg, 109 five kg cylinders, three electronic digital weighing machines, three gas replenishing pipes with knobs and other materials.

According to a task force press release, the accused made a living by repairing gas stoves. The three began illegally obtaining and selling HP, Indane, and Bharath LPG cylinders, among others.

The accused bought cooking LPG in black from local gas delivery agencies, emptied it into smaller cylinders without any precautions, and sold it at a higher price, endangering the locals and their properties.

The accused, as well as the seized items, were handed over to Station House police for further action.

LPG cylinders in Hyderabad will now cost Rs 1002 following a price increase.

On March 22, the government raised the price of LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder. In Hyderabad, a domestic cylinder is now priced at Rs. 1002, up from Rs. 952.

Along with this, the Centre had made the decision to raise the price of petrol and diesel by 60 paise per litre across the country, for the first time after assembly elections in five states.

The price increase comes after nearly 6 months of stable pricing, with the previous price increase for LPG cylinders recorded in October 2021, when a domestic LPG cylinder cost Rs. 952 in Hyderabad.
