Hyderabad: Police bust fake railway job racket, two arrested

On Monday, the Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team and the Jawaharnagar Police Department busted a fake railway job racket and arrested two people. The suspects promised jobs to nearly 100 aspirants and defrauded them of Rs.10 crore, according to police.

P Bhaskar (57), a civil contractor from Karkhana currently residing in New Delhi, and K Ritesh Kumar (41), a realtor from Secunderabad, were arrested and police recovered Rs.9 lakh, two cars, false appointment letters, cheque books, and other material from them. Six suspects are still at large: Ashok Singhal, Deepak Sinha, AK Saxena, Devendar Mishra, K.Ravindra, and Barkhat Ali.

Bhaskar, according to the police, had connections with the Railway Recruitment Board and hence planned to deceive youngsters by promising them employment in the Railways.

“Bhaskar and his accomplices obtained aspirants’ original education certificates and issued fake offer letters, medical memos, and appointment orders. They were robbed of a large sum of money by the gang. When the pressure became too much for them, they fled,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, adding that the victims approached the Delhi Police and lodged a complaint.

After learning that he was being investigated by the police, Bhaskar relocated to Mumbai and frequently visited Hyderabad, where he gathered 16 students by offering them positions in the Indian Railways and the Food Corporation of India.

“His victims were largely students from Hyderabad, Jawaharnagar, and Karimnagar. He took Rs. 93.5 lakh from them and gave them fake appointment orders and identity cards,” Bhagwat said.
