Bhogi Celebrated with Pomp in Two Telugu States

Hyderabad: Bhogi festival was celebrated with pomp and Kuch fervor in two Telugu speaking states-Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.  All the people, who are living away from their native places due to their education and jobs, have returned to their native places to celebrate the Sankranti festival.

All the villages from the two states have worn a complete festival look. The bhogi festival has been celebrated with all elders and young persons of the family together. The traditional plays by Haridasas and bone fires by friends and family members were also held in the villages.

The bhogi was also celebrated in a grand manner in the temple town of Andhra Pradesh Tirumala. The special bhogi bonfire was also held at the main entrance of the Tirumala.  The three day long Sankranti festivities have begun at indrakeeladri based kanaka Durga in Vijayawada.  The chairman of the temple committee Paila Somi Naidu and temple priests launched the celebrations by firing the bone fire. They also made some rounds of the bone fire.
