BRS Leader Alleges Terror Links in Assassination Attempt, AIMIM Responds

Shakil Aamir Mohammed, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Bodhan MLA, has levelled claims against AIMIM workers who were recently arrested for allegedly attempting to assassinate him. He stated in a video message that the attackers had terrorist ties and were part of a broader criminal network. He also stated that two of the attackers have a history of involvement in incidents such as attempted murder, sexual harassment of women, and attacks on government officials.

According to the FIR, the accused, Altaf and Naveed, had personal grudges against MLA Shakil. He requested the state administration and top police officers to use the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act) against his assailants, claiming a murder plot. The MLA also accused certain persons of circulating rumours about him defecting from the party and misled the party’s top leadership.

On June 26, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi issued a statement claiming that in the next assembly elections, his party would “teach a lesson” to MLA Shakil. Owaisi had visited the ten detained people in Sarangapur Jail and criticised the incident. He stated that his party members questioned the MLA about outstanding development projects in his district but did not use obscene language or physically assault him. Owaisi voiced fear that if the arrested individuals were not granted bail, they might be incarcerated for the Eid ul Adha holiday.
