In order to protest the policies of the Central government, the members of the Telangana State Auto Drivers’ Joint Action Committee have called for a State-wide strike on March 28. On Wednesday, the JAC issued a poster declaring their involvement in the strike.
“We are going on strike for a day in order to fight for the rightful implementation of policies such as increasing auto fares, issuing auto permits, reducing increased insurance, establishing an auto drivers’ welfare board, prohibiting illegally running autos in other districts, and issuing 20,000 auto permits in Greater Hyderabad city,” said AITUC State Secretary B Venkatesam.
R Mallesh, Md Umar Khan (AITUC), V Mariaya (TRSKV), Srikanth (CITU), V Kiran (IFAU), Md Amanullah Khan (TADJAC), Y Srinu (IAU), and other JAC leaders were in attendance.
Last month, TADJAC had said that auto drivers would strike over the issue of illegal seizure of autos in Telangana.
TADJAC convenor Md Amanullah Khan had stated that traffic police officers were seizing autos registered outside the city as well as those registered in GHMC zones, which included sections of the Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
He had said that an Auto No.TS07UC 1979 was seized at City College for being an unlicensed outside vehicle. The Police Officer who had issued the vehicle check report did not have time to confirm that the vehicle had a valid auto permit valid until April 17, 2026, to operate within the GHMC borders.

Amanullah Khan had requested the traffic police to release all such vehicles and remove cases against drivers with valid auto licenses who operate throughout the GHMC Areas, including some areas of neighbouring Districts, and to cease harassing drivers in the future. If not, then drivers would be forced to immediately begin an agitation.
