Galwan Valley conflict

On June 15, 2020, twenty Indian soldiers were martyred in a violent clash in the Galwan Valley as Chinese forces tried to unilaterally change the status quo during the de-escalation in eastern Ladakh following tensions along the LAC.

To resolve the problem, the two sides have held many rounds of military commander-level talks and Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) meetings.

In November 2021, the 14th round of Commander-level negotiations took place. During the talks, both sides agreed that the remaining problems would be resolved as quickly as possible in order to end the ongoing standoff and achieve permanent peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The sides also agreed that the next round of Commander-level negotiations (15th round) will take place soon. However, no specific date has been set.
