Committee on power center through fruits, vegetables waste: Niranjan Reddy

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today stated that the government will take steps to produce power from the waste of fruits and vegetables in the markets.

He held a meeting with officials and instructed them to form a committee and conduct a study in other states that have power-producing centers of this type.  Mahindra company has that power centers in Andhra Pradesh and the government will study it to replicate, he said. 

The minister said that a committee will be formed to conduct the study on the power-producing centers using the waste of fruits, and vegetables in the markets.  Our government aims to see that the farmers get benefited through new farm practices and using technology. 

He said that the committee will visit the centers in Tirupati,  Adoni, Piduguralla in AP, and Indore in Madhya Pradesh.  On submission of the report the government will take a decision to set up power plants he said. 

The farmers face loss due to traditional farming and asked the agriculture sector officials to give them new technology and equipment. 

The minister further said that Chief Minister,  K Chandrasekhar Rao plans to make farming a benefit-making.  Rythu vedikas will unite them for minimum support price and get advice on better farm practices and necessary training.  The KCR government offers all help for farming to get benefits through these platforms.  Farmers should focus on vegetable production,  use organic fertilizers the minister said. 

Our government helps the farming and allied sectors to give a boost to production and make farmers strengthen financially.  The farmers should not seek loans and become rich by new farm practices,  the minister said.
