Two construction workers died on the spot after a negligently driven vehicle ran over them in Petbasheerabad, Telangana.
The accident occurred on the outskirts of the city in the Petbasheerabad area of the Medchal Malkajgiri district, when the workers were sleeping in front of an under-construction building.
The victims were identified as Chandan Ram and Kumar Sahari, both 23 years old and from Bihar. They were both working on the same construction site and sleeping on the footpath.
According to the police, the truck had arrived at the location in the early hours of Tuesday with a shipment of steel. The driver apparently did not spot the workers sleeping there and ran them over while reversing.
Meanwhile, a police officer who was hit by a car on Tank Bund in the heart of the city is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Circle Inspector Jehangir Yadav of Musheerabad police station was knocked down on Tank Bund by a speeding truck. The incident took place when he was on duty on Sunday night.
CCTV footage shows a police officer walking down the street when he is hit from behind by a car. The officer was taken to a private hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the car has been apprehended by police. A police report has been filed at the Gandhi Nagar police station.
In another recent incident, a motorist died on the spot on Sunday midnight after his motorcycle collided with a stationary truck on the road near Chiluka Nagar.
The victim, Shiva from Chengicherla, is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Nacharam police had arrived on the scene and began an investigation after receiving information.
