A special court in Hyderabad has handed down a 10-year jail term to a dance teacher, Kondeti Venkata Krishna Kishore, for the horrific rape of his 13-year-old neighbour. The court found the accused guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting the minor girl and forcibly marrying her.
The victim, a Class 8 student at the time of the crimes, detailed the harrowing ordeal she endured. She revealed how Kishore, under the guise of friendship, lured her to his flat and subjected her to repeated sexual assaults. The accused justified his actions by claiming to have married the girl in a temple, a twisted perversion of a sacred ritual.
The victim’s parents also testified, sharing the heart-wrenching details of their daughter’s suffering. They recounted how Kishore, a married man with two children, drugged the girl before committing the heinous acts.

Despite the defense’s attempts to discredit the victim’s testimony, the court found her account to be credible and consistent. The judge, in a strong verdict, emphasized the gravity of the crimes and the need for stringent punishment to deter such heinous acts.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive threat of sexual abuse, especially against children. It underscores the urgent need for societal awareness, stronger legal frameworks, and effective support systems for victims.
