Fake audio of CM KCR circulated by unidentified persons; case booked

It was reported that a case was booked against unidentified persons for spreading objectionable fake audio of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on social media platforms.

A complaint had been filed with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police alleging that some individuals uploaded a video on YouTube impersonating the voice of the Chief Minister and portraying it as a discussion about money distribution ahead of the Munugode bypoll

It was alleged by the complainant that such posts on social media platforms may provoke certain groups of society and cause divisions. An investigation has been opened by the police after the complaint was filed.

Munugode bypoll

The Munugode bypoll on November 3 is essential for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the run-up to the Telangana assembly elections, which are scheduled for December 2023. Munugode is one of the 12 constituencies in the Nalgonda district of Telangana.

The Munugode bypoll is a battle for prestige for both the BJP and the ruling TRS. The BJP is attempting to capture Telangana by going hyper-local, whereas TRS chief KCR is pursuing his national dreams of a non-BJP, non-Congress central government.

Munugode, a town of farmers and weavers, had turned into a flurry of cars and loudspeakers in preparation for the bypoll. Political leaders are trying to capture the vote bank in the area’s 115 villages.

The recent allegations by TRS against the BJP of MLA poaching are sure to tip the scales in the ruling party’s favor. It is safe to say that the winner of the bypoll will gain momentum in the upcoming state elections in 2023.

Ex-Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned and defected to the BJP, prompting the bypoll in Munugode. This defection saw plenty of controversies.  The ruling TRS said that the MLA defected to the saffron party after being awarded a Rs 18,000 crore coal contract.
