Gadkari and Andhra CM Inaugurate Kanaka Durga Flyover in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced the Kanaka Durga flyover in the city on Friday.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the heads visually inaugurated the flyover through a video session.

Gadkari said: “Ushering an era of growth and prosperity in Andhra Pradesh, today virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 16 national highway projects, including the Kanaka Durga flyover in Vijayawada in the presence (virtual) of Chief Minister.”

 

The 2.6 km distance flyover was built at an expected expense of Rs 502 crore to ease motor traffic in Vijayawada.

Gadkari additionally established the foundation stone of 16 national highway plan, extending to a length of 1,411 km at an expense of Rs 15,592 crore.

The Union Minister said the projects incorporate the construction of the six-lane Vijayawada bypass and a bridge over the Krishna river.

He included: “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are committed to building world-class infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.”

Up until now, the load capacity test has been directed multiple times on the flyover by the authorities and has given an allowance for permitting traffic on it. Apart from this, the traffic will be additionally permitted on Benz Circle flyover-I from Friday. The absolute length of the flyover is 2.35 km and an 880 meters-in length approach road for it which is a part of the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam Highway expansion works taken up at an expected expense of Rs 747 crore.
