GHMC to Adopt Digital Method for Payments of Property Tax

As per the latest reports, GHMC is soon going to provide the facility of paying property tax through digital methods.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken an important step to streamline the property tax payment process even further. The GHMC’s IT (Information Technology) Department will soon make it possible to pay taxes using UPI (Unified Payments Interface), QR codes, PhonePay, Paytm, and other mobile wallets. Citizens can pay their taxes not only on the GHMC website but also through the MyGHMC mobile application and also at citizens service centres. As per GHMC officials, by embedding the PTI number on the GHMC website, the tax deduction option with the UPI account number, debit and credit cards will be made available to the public.

It will be connected to the MyGHMC app. If the tax is paid in cash or by cheques to the collectors or tax inspectors, they will enter the information on the spot using an Android tablet and will produce a receipt. As part of the digitization of tax payments, the tax amount to be paid will be displayed on the mobile phone when the QR code is scanned by the house owner. Citizens can also enter their house number to find out how much tax they owe. In a month, the municipal corporation will launch and activate the municipal ‘Property Tax’ digital payments. People will be able to pay their property taxes through a mobile device. The corporation’s goal is to expand and promote digital payment options in the civic body.
