GHMC to hold assessment camps from today for specially-abled and elderly

In an effort to distribute aids and appliances to the specially-abled, including those who are visually impaired, and to eligible senior citizens who are below the poverty line, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will hold identification and assessment camps between June 20 and July 7.

The GHMC officials have identified venues throughout the city with one camp in each of the 30 circles. The camp will be held twice a day at GHMC community halls, sports complexes, and multipurpose function halls that can accommodate 250 to 300 people.

According to GHMC, the camp will take place at the Senior Citizen Welfare Association Building in AS Rao Nagar and Gandhinagar Community Hall in Ramanthapur on Monday.

Each team consists of two doctors, one prosthetist, one orthotist, two technicians, and two helpers.

SADAREM camp certification, or at least the receipt of application to SADAREM, is required for physically challenged individuals.

The camp will assess each applicant’s need for aid. The same location will be used for distribution later on.

The beneficiaries will receive a cervical collar flexo, Lumbo Sacral belt, wheelchairs, tricycles, BTE Digital Hearing Aid callipers and artificial limbs. Additionally, there will be a distribution of Braille kits, Multisensory inclusive educational developmental kits (MSIEDs) for especially abled children, crutch elbow walking sticks, Braille canes for visually impaired people, rollators, daisy players, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) kits for people affected with leprosy.

GHMC will coordinate with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to provide equipment to eligible beneficiaries.

People with physical disabilities should carry along their income certificate, food security card, two pictures of their disabilities, and the Aadhaar card, while senior citizens must present their Aadhaar card with their date of birth and their senior citizen ID card. Camps are not open to non-locals.
