Governor Inaugurates High-Performance Para-Sports Academy 

Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, inaugurated the revamped Infinity Para-Sports Academy, a state-of-the-art facility established by the Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF), in Begumpet. The event celebrated the achievements of para-athletes who have excelled at national and international levels and was attended by distinguished guests, including Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary for Sports and IT; Ms. Vanitha Datla, Vice Chairperson of Elico Ltd.; Shri Madhukar Naik D, CEO of Secunderabad Cantonment Board; and Shri T. Gopalkrishna, Deputy Commissioner and Region Head, JNV South.

The Infinity Para-Sports Academy, a first-of-its-kind facility in Hyderabad, is designed to empower para-athletes with world-class training and rehabilitation facilities. Its mission is to propel Indian athletes to success on the global stage, including the Paralympics 2028. The revamped academy includes specialized equipment, expert coaching, and personalized care to support para-athletes in achieving their full potential.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Dev Varma lauded the athletes for their resilience and determination. “Today, we celebrate a triumph of willpower over adversity, proving that disability is not a limitation but an opportunity for greatness. These athletes have defied all odds and achieved extraordinary milestones. The Infinity Para-Sports Academy stands as a beacon of hope, offering an inclusive environment that nurtures talent and empowers individuals to shine,” he said.

The academy reflects the unwavering commitment of the Aditya Mehta Foundation to fostering excellence and inclusivity in sports. Founder Aditya Mehta, a decorated para-cyclist and coach for the Indian Paracycling Team, emphasized the importance of tailored support for athletes. “With cutting-edge resources and world-class training, the academy is a game-changer in the journey of para-athletes toward global excellence. Our vision is to bring glory to India at the Paralympics 2028 and inspire future generations of athletes,” he stated.

Ms. Vanitha Datla highlighted AMF’s achievements, noting its transformative impact on over 8,000 individuals. “The foundation has guided grassroots talent into international champions, with over 300 medals to its credit. By collaborating with institutions like Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Central Armed Police Forces, we are introducing para-sports to a wider audience and providing customized training and equipment to aspiring athletes,” she said.

The event also saw Shri Madhukar Naik D express pride in hosting the academy in Hyderabad’s Cantonment area. “This institute is a significant opportunity for children with special needs to showcase their talent and receive world-class training and support,” he remarked.

The academy’s cutting-edge infrastructure includes specialized equipment tailored to para-athletes’ needs, along with a team of physiotherapists and coaches offering personalized guidance. The facility symbolizes AMF’s mission to break barriers and redefine excellence in para-sports, setting a benchmark for inclusivity and innovation.

As a pioneering initiative, the Infinity Para-Sports Academy is expected to inspire countless athletes and pave the way for India’s dominance in international para-sports.
