Harish Rao Praises KCR’s Temple Initiatives

T Harish Rao, Telangana’s Finance and Health Minister, has complimented Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) as a “genuine Hindu,” citing temple construction and salary payments to priests in the state as evidence of KCR’s devotion to religion.

Rao contrasted this with what he perceives as the BJP’s political exploitation of religion, which he argues has the ability to sow division among all parts of society.

Rao spoke after praying at the Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Potlapally, near Husnabad. He also announced a temple development project, at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh.

Under KCR’s leadership, the Telangana government has made significant investments in temple construction, including the Yadadri Temple (Rs 1,200 crore) and the Kondagattu Temple (Rs 600 crore). Furthermore, the government covers priests’ wages and has increased financing for lighting lamps in 10,000 temples.

Rao believes that the BJP’s political use of religion is divisive and harmful to society. He claims that the KCR government is concerned with the well-being of all segments of society while respecting all religions.
