Hyderabad: A minors with daggers arrested at Shaheen Nagar

Balapur police and Rachakonda Special Operations Team arrested two persons on Tuesday at Shaheen Nagar, Hyderabad, including a boy juvenile allegedly in possession of two daggers.

Among the items seized were two daggers, a scooter, and a mobile phone.

Among those arrested was Mohd. Fawad Qureshi (26), an auto driver from Rajendranagar who had earlier been involved in a similar case at the Rajendranagar police station. A 17-year-old suspect was also arrested.

Originally from Vikarabad district, Qureshi came to Hyderabad a decade ago and had been plying an auto-rickshaw ever since.

As a result of Qureshi’s involvement in a murder committed in the Rajendranagar area in 2021, he was arrested and sent to prison. In December, he was released on bail.

Afterward, he obtained two daggers through a reputable E-commerce site, kept them with him, and moved to the area.

The two men were found moving suspiciously on a scooter in the area on Monday night. Upon police inspection, the daggers were found.

Qureshi appeared before the court, while the minor appeared before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Two held for cheating officials

On Tuesday, cybercrime sleuths from Hyderabad arrested two people for impersonating a Telangana bureaucrat, including a 19-year-old animation engineering student.

Several officials were allegedly cheated by them when they collected money online. Gajarao Bhupal, the deputy commissioner of police (CCS), said Raghav Appu and Anand Kumar downloaded a picture of an officer from Telangana and used it on WhatsApp.

Later, they used this number to send WhatsApp messages to various government officials. Many people who received the message mistook it for a message from the bureaucrat. The accused requested money in the message, claiming that the bureaucrat was in desperate need of it.

Several people sent money online after the accused shared their bank details, believing this to be true. They later realized they had been duped. Police apprehended the accused in Bengaluru after they filed a complaint.
