Hyderabad: CV Anand holds meeting with officers and Muslim clerics ahead of Bakrid

A coordination meeting was held by Hyderabad city police commissioner CV Anand with department officers and Muslim clerics to plan for the upcoming Bakrid festival.

Muslim clerics, in the meeting, appealed to members of the community to properly dispose of animal viscera. The attendees were informed about the sanitation measures being implemented by GHMC.

In addition, 55 vehicles will be allocated directly to Hyderabad police stations from a fleet of 300 sanitation vehicles.

To facilitate the distribution of garbage bags, trash bags will be kept ready at Masjids and police stations. Two lakh garbage bags will be distributed in the south zone.

Attendees assured police they would cooperate with them and follow police instructions on safety issued by the police. CV Anand assured the meeting that the checkpoints would be manned only by police, GHMC, and animal husbandry staff.

In response to concerns raised about cattle transport, Anand suggested that information about the illegal transport of cattle be brought to the attention of the officials.

Anand also issued a stern warning to self-proclaimed groups and individuals who take the law into their own hands in the name of animal protection.

For better coordination between departments, 21 officers were designated as liaison officers. Arrangements for bandobast are being made to facilitate parking, security, and traffic management, not to restrict traffic, he added.

The civic, electricity and other department officials also went ahead and took note of the issues raised during the meeting and promised to resolve them as soon as possible.

In response to a question about animal remains during the festival, GHMC officials stated that sanitization teams will be deployed to clear them from roads, ponds, and open drains. GHMC vet teams and emergency vehicles will also be kept on standby.
