Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Arrests Fraudster in Airport Job Scam

The Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad have nabbed Vijaykant, a 34-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, for organizing a job fraud in which he scammed a woman out of Rs 2.20 lakh by offering her a post with the Airport Authority of India.

The police launched an inquiry after receiving a complaint from the victim, which resulted to Vijaykant’s detention. In Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the accused ran a phony job phone center. The police confiscated significant evidence during the arrest, including six laptops, 23 mobile phones, eight check books, six bank cards, and 80 SIM cards.

The victim reported receiving a phone call from the fraudsters offering her a job at the Airport Authority of India. The scammers then forced her to transfer Rs 2,20,327 for supposed registration fees, account opening fees, uniform expenses, and offer letter fees.

A.V. Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes and SIT, claimed that the cyber fraudster collected phone numbers from genuine job sites and then hired telecallers to convey messages and call potential victims. After making contact, the accused staged phony interviews and wrote phony offer letters to earn the victims’ trust, eventually convincing them to transfer money. The fraudsters stopped communicating with the victims once the transactions were completed.

The arrest of Vijaykant is a key step in reducing bogus job schemes, and authorities urge the public to be watchful and report similar incidents as soon as possible.
