Hyderabad police deploy 4,500 officers for Bonalu festival

In order to ensure that Bonalu celebrations take place smoothly on Sunday, elaborate security arrangements had been put in place by Hyderabad police.

The Hyderabad police deployed around 4,500 policemen to maintain security and prevent any unfortunate events. Senior police officials supervised the security arrangements. In all sensitive areas and religious places, police pickets were placed, and patrolling continued.

A number of teams, including the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Rapid Action Force, City Armed Reserve, Bomb Detection and Disposal teams, SHE Teams, and local civil police, were deployed.

The celebrations were peaceful, and the mood was joyful, according to Additional CP (law and order) DS Chauhan. This was the first time the festival had been celebrated in such a grand manner after a two-year gap. He told media members that security arrangements had been made taking this aspect into account.

It is anticipated that the security arrangements will continue until the culmination of Monday afternoon’s ‘Ghatam’ procession. On Monday, a caparisoned elephant will lead a procession carrying the Ghatams from 26 temples. Nayapul will be the last stop in the procession after passing through Lal Darwaza, Nagulchinta, Shahalibanda, Charminar, and Pathergatti.
