The Telangana government pays Rs 5,000 each month to Imams and Muezzins to honour their service, and thousands of Imams and Muezzins have benefited from this scheme.
This amount will be distributed to all mosques in the state by the Telangana Waqf Board.
ANI quoted an imam, Hafeez Mohd Abdulla, as saying, “I have been an imam at Jaama Masjid, Mohammed Lane, for about eight to ten years; I thank KCR for giving us a monthly salary of Rs 5,000, and I hope this will continue for a long time.”
Furthermore, he said, “I would like to thank Owaisi sir as well as the local MLA. Whatever amount you are giving us is unique. No government has taken care of us but KCR sir is doing it. I pray to Allah to bless him with good health”.
Another imam, Mohd Salauddin Azam, said, “I am thanking KCR sir for providing us with Rs 5,000 salary every month. I pray to God to bless him with a long and healthy life.”

Telangana State Waqf Board had also released the honorarium for Imams and Muezzins of the state in February of this year for October, November and December 2021. Rs 14.8 crore was released for 9,900 imams and muezzins.
Mohammed Saleem, chairman of the TS Waqf Board, explained that all the funds were released via the green channel and will be credited directly into the Imams’ and Muezzins’ accounts.
Imams and Muezzins whose bank accounts had not been updated were advised to visit the Waqf Board office to record their details in order to get their honoraria credited.
Saleem said that sometimes there is a delay of a few months due to administrative problems, but all 10,000 beneficiaries are receiving their benefit payments.
