Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported threats against Jordan, suggesting it could be targeted if perceived to cooperate with Israel during Iranian missile and drone attacks against Israel. Regional security sources confirmed Jordanian jets intercepted numerous Iranian drones flying over northern and central Jordan towards Israel.
According to Fars, Iran’s military is closely monitoring Jordan’s actions during the attacks on Israel, warning that any intervention could make Jordan the next target. The agency cited an informed source within Iran’s armed forces.
Jordan’s air defenses were reportedly on high alert, prepared to shoot down any Iranian drones or aircraft violating its airspace. Heavy aerial activity was reported in northern, central, and southern Jordan, with increased reconnaissance flights by the air force.

Jordanian officials denied reports of declaring a state of emergency but announced the closure of its airspace as a precautionary measure. They emphasized that there was no cause for concern among citizens.
Jordan’s proximity to Syria, Iraq, and Israel, coupled with its concerns about being caught in regional conflicts, has led to increased cooperation with the United States. Late last year, Jordan requested Patriot air defense systems from the US to strengthen its border defenses.
In January, tensions escalated further when Iran-backed militants conducted a deadly drone attack on US troops near the Syrian border in northeastern Jordan, resulting in casualties among US forces. This incident marked a significant escalation amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
