KTR Unveils Hyderabad Development Plans for Global City Status

Telangana Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) has presented plans for a huge development project in Hyderabad that will involve the construction of a new metropolis between the existing Inner Ring Road (IRR) and Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The project will include a 332-kilometer Regional Ring Road (RRR), with the goal of transforming Hyderabad into a global city. KT Rama Rao made a parallel with Beijing’s rapid urbanization, underlining that the city’s progress thus far is only a “trailer,” and the whole movie will be unveiled with the BRS government’s return to power.

The Regional Ring Road is expected to connect 20 towns with national highways, covering 40% of the population. KT Rama Rao also emphasized the government’s initiatives for builder-friendly governance, such as TS-Bpass, which streamlines building clearances. He chastised the Congress party, claiming that plans to levy a special tax on builders reflect their lack of knowledge of Hyderabad’s real estate potential.

KT Rama Rao also mentioned Telangana’s progress in the IT sector, which has surpassed even Bangalore in terms of employment generation. He chastised the Congress, claiming that if they had worked like the BRS throughout their nine years in power, the state would have progressed considerably faster. Telangana will hold assembly elections on November 30, featuring a triangular struggle between the BJP, BRS, and TPCC.
