Man from Hyderabad Stabbed to Death in US, Family Seeks Government’s Help

Hyderabad: A 37-year-old person from Hyderabad has been stabbed to death by unknown people in Georgia, the US, his family stated here.

Mohammed Arif Mohiuddin, who was running a grocery store, was stabbed when he opened the front door of his home at Crawley Street in Thomaston city.  Man from Hyderabad was stabbed many times by four attackers right in front of his house after he had gotten back from work.

The occurrence happened on November 1 and his family living at Chanchalguda in the old city of Hyderabad found out about it on Monday night.

Arif’s wife Mehnaaz Fatima has requested Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister for External Affairs, to arrange an emergency visa for her and her father-in-law, Khaja Mohiuddin, to travel to the US to attend the last rites of her husband

In a letter to the minister, she additionally urged her to ask the Indian embassy in Washington and the Indian consulate in Atlanta to investigate his murder.

Arif has been living in the US for about 10 years and was running a grocery store. He had last visited his family in Hyderabad around 10 months back. The couple has a 10-month-old baby.  Arif had called up his family recently and disclosed to them that he was running the store in partnership with an individual of Spanish origin. He had moreover said that he had a financial dispute with his partner.

Mehnaaz stated that her husband had differences with his business partner. She said her husband last had a talk with her on November 1.

She wrote to Jaishankar, “He said that he will reach home in 30 minutes and speak to me but he didn’t call back or responded to my calls. Through some friends, I came to know that my husband has been stabbed to death and the police have moved his body to a nearby hospital.”

(MBT) Majlis Bachao Tehreek head Amjedullah Khan approached the family at their living residence and consoled them. He asked Telangana’s cabinet minister K. T. Rama Rao to ask the US consulate in Hyderabad to quickly give visas to Mehnaaz and Khaja Mohiuddin.

The killers are yet to be identified but the CCTV recording showed one attacker to be a store staff.
