Margaret Alva to receive TRS support for Vice President elections

Keshav Rao, leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), announced on Friday that his party will support Margaret Alva for vice-president.

In a statement, Rao said TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao decided to support Alva.

Rao told TRS MPs outside Parliament that they should vote accordingly. He added that Alva will meet TRS MPs in the evening.

Also, in the presidential elections, the TRS sided with the opposition and supported Yashwant Sinha. As an alternative to the ruling NDA’s nominee Jagdeep Dhankhar, Alva is being fielded by the opposition. On Saturday, there will be a vice-presidential election.

BJP and TRS engage in a scuffle

Following the call for a debate, TRS workers in Huzurabad placed their party flags around Ambedkar Square. In response, BJP workers placed their party flags in the same location. Notably, a brawl broke out between workers from both parties when they got into an argument about flags.

The local police rushed to the scene and attempted to defuse the situation between the cadres of both parties. According to media reports, despite the fact that the police were in control of the situation, a few people were injured, including one police officer, in the clash between BJP and TRS workers on Thursday.

The BJP MLA from Huzurabad apparently attempted to pacify the situation by appealing to the people of his constituency and local representatives not to fall victim to the evil strategies of Telangana CM KCR to generate a rift in the peaceful land of Huzurabad.

Gajewal, who had praised the development he brought to Huzurabad and opined to fight CM KCR in the latter’s constituency, made an appeal to the people of Huzurabad that they must fight TRS chief KCR.

Notably, on July 23, a similar tussle erupted between these two party workers over a flag post in Nizam Sagar, Kamareddy.
