Challans to be sent using WhatsApp by Hyderabad Traffic Police

Traffic challans are now being issued by the Hyderabad Police through WhatsApp messages, as part of a digital transition. All violators of traffic rules so far have received SMS messages containing fines on their phones.

However, Hyderabad Traffic Police has taken the initiative to use the widely popular WhatsApp messaging service. The Hyderabad Traffic Police can easily access all the data, including the phone numbers and addresses of the traffic offenders, from the Transport Department, so utilizing WhatsApp’s popularity shouldn’t be an issue.

An official of the Traffic Police told Telangana Today that vehicle owners must provide their residential address details along with their phone numbers while registering their vehicles. We will also forward the challan message to WhatsApp since we now have more details.”

Postal challans and messages are usually sent by the traffic police team from its control room. Each vehicle’s registration number appears on the Hyderabad Traffic Police’s e-challan portal as a result of the traffic penalties updated by police officers.

The vehicle owner is then informed via the owner’s mobile phone, and later by a postal challan. The violation can now be paid by WhatsApp or at Meeseva at the traffic compounding booth since WhatsApp has been added to the list.
