Covid 19 vaccine by Moderna Inc said on Tuesday that it is safe to be used for children between the age of 12 and 17 years. They are now planning to ask the health regulators in the United States and other countries to open the vaccine bracket for the kids as well.
Moderna Approves Vaccine For Teenagers
As per the latest reports, the company said that the vaccine-induced immune responses within the children as well and in the same way as adults. This cleared the way for Pfizer-BioNTech to be used for the children as well.
Moderna said that during the testing of 3700 children, there were no cases of symptomatic Covid 19 amongst the recipients. This further suggests that the vaccine has shown almost 100 percent effectiveness with adolescents.

Based on the results achieved, Moderna said that they plan to request the regulators by early June to authorize the Covid 19 vaccine for children from 12 to 17 years of age in the United States and other countries.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could take a couple of weeks to approve the request for the same. It took about a month to approve Pfizer’s request to use the vaccine for adolescents.

Health experts suggest that immunizing children against the pandemic virus will contain the community widespread. The proof of the vaccines, efficacy, and safety for adolescents is helping the schools and leaders to plan to open up by fall.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said that all the public school students in New York City which is the largest school system in the US would return to offline learning in the fall.
FDA in December last year approved the use of Moderna for people 18 years and above. Pfizer and BioNTech was cleared for 16 and 17 years and above.
