The Graduate Medical Education regulations2023 (GMER-23), issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC), are new requirements for MBBS students. Students must complete the MBBS degree within nine years of enrollment, according to these criteria. They will also have a maximum of four attempts to complete the first year of the course. The NMC has also said that admissions to graduate medical courses in all medical institutions in India will be based on the NEET-UG (National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test-Undergraduate) merit list.
The counselling process will be carried out in accordance with the seat matrix provided by the NMC, and numerous sessions of counselling may be done as necessary. It is crucial to note that students admitted to a Graduate Medical Education Programme will not be regarded to have graduated until they have completed their rotating medical internship in in compliance with the 2021 Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship Regulations.
The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) will publish regulations for the conduct of common counselling, and the counselling will be carried out in accordance with these recommendations by a government-appointed competent authority..
