Normal life disrupted as heavy rains lash Hyderabad on Monday morning

On Monday morning, Hyderabad was hit by heavy rains, which caused many low-lying regions of the city to become submerged.

The majority of the old city streets were converted into lakes by the rain in a matter of minutes. In addition to flooding, certain parts of the city had power outages.

Once more, the rains constitute a threat to areas near the Musi River since they will raise the river’s water level.

Following the opening of Osman Sagar’s gates by the authorities, the river’s level recently rose. Low-lying areas were flooded as a result of the river’s massive intake of water. Homes near the river had water in them.

Authorities had closed Puranapul, Moosarambagh, and Chaderghat bridges as a precaution after seeing a rise in the water level in the Musi River.

On Sunday evening, numerous areas of the city reported receiving a lot of rain.

The district of Ramachandrapuram in Sangareddy, which falls within the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, saw the maximum amount of rainfall on the previous day—34.2 mm. In contrast to the average rainfall of 284.9 mm, there was 485.1 mm of cumulative rain in the GHMC’s jurisdiction from June 1 to July 31.

In the last 24 hours, there have been reports of moderate rain in Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Patancheru, Balanagar, and a few other places.
