Heavy rains hit Hyderabad overnight; check out netizens reactions

As per the latest reports, in just over two hours on Monday night, Hyderabad received nearly 100mm of rain.

Hayathnagar recorded the highest rainfall with 98.5 mm, followed by Amberpet with 89.8 mm and Saidabad with 88.0 mm, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society.

Over 80 mm of rainfall was recorded in Bahadurpura, Charminar, Himayatnagar, and Nampally in just a few hours. There was thunder and lightning accompanying the heavy rain.

Furthermore, many apartment buildings had flooded cellars, damaging vehicles. Residential areas in the city’s outskirts, particularly those adjacent to lakes, continue to suffer from chronic waterlogging caused by a heavy downpour Monday night, the second in three days.

People in low-lying areas like Saroornagar and Kodandaram Nagar among others faced severe inconveniences as a result of overflowing drains and lakes. Traffic under the Malakpet bridge was also halted due to the overflowing Moosarambagh causeway across the Musi River.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) monsoon teams and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams have been deployed to address complaints related to rain.

The Water Board is releasing 1,278 cusecs of water from Osman Sagar into Musi. There were 1,200 cusecs of inflow at the reservoir. As of today, the water level in the reservoir was 1,787 feet against a Full Tank Level (FTL) of 1,790 feet.

For the next three days, the India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad predicts moderate to heavy rainfall across the State, including Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.

Vikarabad district received the maximum rainfall, 130.5 mm, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society.

A yellow alert was issued for the following districts: Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam.
