The demand to designate Hyderabad as India’s second capital has resurfaced after former Maharashtra Governor and senior BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao spoke out in favor of it.
Rao advocated for Hyderabad as the nation’s second capital, citing a statement made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s grandson, Prakash Ambedkar. He emphasized the importance of political parties working together to reach a decision in this matter.
According to Rao, this proposal would help to realize the long-held dream of a Golden Telangana.
In a recent media interview, he stated that there could be opportunities to make Hyderabad the country’s second capital and reminded everyone that there is a clear mention in the constitution that the country needs a second capital.
“I exude confidence that Hyderabad will become a second capital for the country in the future”, Vidyasagar Rao said.
Due to its location, Hyderabad is an excellent choice for a second capital. Its strategic location would facilitate better governance and coordination.
In recent years, Hyderabad has seen significant growth. Making it the second capital would not only attract more investment and stimulate economic growth, but it would also open up new opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, and the local population.
The city’s well-connected road networks, international airport, and well-established public transportation system allow it to handle the additional administrative functions that come with being a capital.

It is not the first time that the demand to make Hyderabad India’s second capital has been made. Previously, many leaders made similar demands.
Though making Hyderabad the country’s second capital provides opportunities, making the proposal a reality will require significant administrative and legislative work.
