Parties ask EC for hike in poll expenditure, stations for GHMC polls amid corona

Hyderabad:  Ahead of forthcoming GHMC polls, Election Commission has today conducted separate meetings with 11 political parties here.

The state election commissioner  Partha Sarathi has informed of polls preparedness to them.  He offered 15 minutes’ time to each party to give their suggestions on smooth and fair polls amid the corona pandemic. The leaders of the parties urged the poll body for an increase in polling stations, fresh voters list, more polling station,  increase in poll expenditure,  stations,   hassle-free arrangements,  more security amid corona problems.

He sought to increase polls expansion to Rs 5 lakhs in the GHMC area,  Rs 2.50 lakhs in municipalities.

Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy has said that he urged the poll body for implementing the two-child norm for candidates.  Stating that injustice being meted out to BCs, Reddy asked the EC to increase BC seats to 75 from 50 seats.  Voters list released on November 7 was not proper as 15 more days time be given to find suitable polling stations. He also asked the EC to set up 25 more stations and smooth polls.

CPI leader Ch Venkat Reddy said that EC cannot conduct the polls in a hurried manner. First help the flood victims in the GHMC area and then go for elections, he said.
