Hyderabad: State Election Commission today said that polls for GHMC in the city are to be held as per the ballot process. The majority of political parties have vouched for the ballot type polling in the civic body the poll body said.
The election commission has conducted s meeting with the political parties and got their opinion on the GHMC polls. The current term of GHMC expires on February 10 next month. The polls have to be held well in advance the poll body said.
The poll body has called the meeting with 50 political parties and 26 of them gave their opinions and reportedly preferred the ballot method of GHMC polls. While 13 parties preferred the ballot only 3 parties have sought the EVM type of polling.
The poll body has asked the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements for the fair conduct of the polls. The officials are now on the job if setting up polling centers for the GHMC polls.
Each polling station is to allow 800 voters against the previous 1200 amid the Corona pandemic. The officials say that about 10000 political stations are required for the civic body polls.
