Patriotic fervour soars in Hyderabad

As part of the Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu celebrations, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) continued to organize grand events across all its six zones on Sunday.

Telangana’s folk history and the latent talent of folk artists (Janapada Kalakarlu) were celebrated on this day. Balladeer Gaddar took part in the program in Kukatpally, and Tollywood actor Sandeep Madhav took part in the Janapada Kalakarula program in Serilingampally.

At Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu in the eastern part of the city, officials of the L B Nagar zone held celebrations. Celebrations were marked by firecrackers over Durgam Cheruvu, Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu, and other places.

In celebration of 75 years of independence, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) revived Sunday-Funday at Tank Bund and Ek Shaam Charminar Ke Naam as part of the Vajrotsavalu celebrations.

Both Tank Bund and Charminar wore festive looks with scores of people thronging these places holding the Tricolour and enjoying patriotic songs. In both places, people waved the national flag, shouted slogans, grooved to songs, and shot paper party poppers filled with the colors of the tricolor.

There was a lot of food available at Tank Bund and Charminar, and people enjoyed going around the stalls. A few of them were seen strolling on the pavement at the traffic-free Tank Bund, enjoying the breeze and music.
