“PM Modi is dangabaaz, demon; worst fate than Trump awaits”- Mamata Banerjee

With 3 months left for the state elections to be held in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party a day after her nephew Abhishek Banerjee’s wife was questioned during a CBI probe.

During the rally in Kolkatta at the same place where the PM visited 2 days back to campaign for BJP, Ms Banerjee called him “Dangabaaz”, “Doitya” and “Danab”, meaning rioter, monster and demon when translated from Bengali.

The CM also went ahead to challenge the BJP to arrest her and the 20 lakh Trinamool Congress workers of West Bengal.

Speaking at a Trinamool Congress rally held at Kolkata’s Hooghly for her campaign, Ms Banerjee said, “PM Narendra Modi is the biggest dangabaaz in the country.”

This use of the term “dangabaaz” is being seen as the reply to BJP’s “tolabaaz” that it uses for Trinamool.

She also added that PM Modi has a fate “worse than Donald Trump” waiting for him, referring to the defeat of Trump in his re-election in November.

“I will be the goalkeeper in the assembly polls and BJP will not be able to score a single goal,” Ms Banerjee proclaimed.

Recently, her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Banerjee was approached by the CBI for questioning over a corruption case involving an alleged coal mafia. Rujira’s sister too was interrogated previously.

“You can kill me, thrash me. But can you disrespect a woman? The bahu (daughter-in-law) of my house? And call her coal thief,” the Chief Minister questioned.

“You are calling our mothers and daughters coal thieves? You are hardly spotless. We know everything but I won’t say anything as it is beneath me.”

Many celebs were present at the Trinamool rally who joined the party and later raised slogans, “Khela Hobey” (Game On)- a phrase used by the CM’s party. These faces included actors such as June Maliya and Sayoni Dutta and cricketer Manoj Tiwari.

“The country is being ruled by a doitya and a danab (Bengali for demons). They will try to break our spine. They will infiltrate. They will grab Bengal. What do you want? Bengal to stay Bengal or whatever the BJP makes of it? Gujarat will not rule Bengal,” Ms Banerjee railed.
