Poonam Pandey, the Bollywood actress popular for her choice of taking up bold roles, has come under the radar for “sneakily” shooting an objectionable video in the government property of Goa.
The coastal region police detained the actress and her husband, Sam Bombay after the property caretakers informed the cops regarding the scenario. However, the couple got bailed out too on the same day.
Following the detainment, two policemen who allegedly provided protection to the filmmaker and his wife were suspended for allowing them to trespass a government property without permission. The cops were punished after many residents of Canacona town exclaimed the exploitation of the state’s land and workers for the obscene shoot.
After finding out that the actress was staying at a 5-star hotel in the Sinquerim of North Goa, a team from the Calangute police station reached the hotel and detained the couple. They were then brought to the station for further investigation.
Superintendent of Police (South Goa), Pankaj Kumar Singh said Pandey and her husband were detained for “questioning”.
After the obscene video was shot on October 31st, the police registered a case against its makers on November 4th post getting the complaints of the water resources department. This department associates manage the Chapoli dam at which Pandey and her husband carried out their shoot.
The same day, many locals of the town protested for a shutdown of Canacona along with the demand for action against the two cops involved in the shoot.
This led to the SP suspending inspector TukaramChavan and a constable although their inquiry is still pending to be completed by the Goa Home department. The SP said the exact reason for the suspension would be disclosed only post inquiry.
According to the complaint lodged by the WR department on Tuesday, “unknown persons” were charged for trespassing a government property and shooting an objectionable obscene video.
Ramesh Tawadkar, a former minister of the state and BJP leader, told reporters that police gave protection to Pandey and the crew for the shoot.
He further said that the residents of the town withdrew their demands when PramodSawant, the CM, ascertained them about the suspension of the policemen.
However, after all the hullaballoo, the actress and her husband were left on a bail bond of Rs.40,000 (Rs.20,000 per person). The bail, ordered by the judicial magistrate of first-class, further mentions the ineligibility of the couple to leave the borders of Goa without the permission of the court as they also have to report back to the police station for the next 6 days.
Cuncolim police inspector TherronD’Costa said the couple is being held at the station and will be allowed to go to their hotel only after they pay the bail amount.
Sam and Poonam Pandey have been charged under sections pertaining to trespassing, along with the Indecent Representation of Women Act, according to the SP.
