Protest Against Hike in Petrol, Diesel Prices : Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Nalgonda MP  N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday called upon the party’s rank and file to participate in protests in front of the petrol pumps on Friday opposing spiraling petrol and diesel prices in the country and demanding their immediate reduction.

In a statement, he criticized that the prices of petrol and diesel have been raised indiscriminately while the people of the nation have been facing indescribable hardships due to Covid Pandemic.

He said that the All India Congress Committee has called upon the party leaders and workers to stage protests opposing the rise of petrol and diesel prices at will. He said that protests should be held in front of the petrol pumps all over the state at 11 am.

He said that the District Congress Committee presidents should participate in the protests at the district headquarters and constituency in charges at the headquarters of the Assembly Constituencies. In the same way, the town and Mandal in charge should participate in the protest in their respective towns and Mandal headquarters.

The TPCC chief explained that the price of petrol has breached Rs 100 per liter mark at several places of the country. He said that this has led to rising in the prices of essential commodities.

He said that in the past 13 months the prices of petrol have been risen by Rs 25.72 per liter and diesel by Rs 23.93 per liter. He said that the prices have been raised 43 times and this is an example of the loot of the people by the Centre.

He said that the rise of prices of petroleum products will cause economic slowdown, rampant unemployment, and job losses. He urged all the MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders to participate in the protests.

He suggested that the protests should be held strictly adhering to the Covid norms. Leaders and workers should wear masks and should maintain social distance during the protests.
