Samajwadi Party Youth lathi-charged for protesting on NEET, JEE

On Monday the police lathi-charged the members of the Samajwadi party  Chhatra Sabha as they held a huge protesting in front of the Raj Bhawan here to request a delay of JEE and NEET.
As the Samajwadi student leaders and workers marched their way to Raj Bhawan, a line up was made in the area and when the activists started the demonstration, police attempted to push them back. This prompted a fight between the two gatherings and the police officers had to use their batons to scatter the protesters and clear the area.
The protestors were placed into buses and sent to the Police lines. Traffic outside the Raj Bhawan was diverted for some time during the protest.
The Samajwadi Party has been requesting a delay of the NEET and JEE selection tests because holding the assessments could undermine the lives of lakhs of students during the pandemic. also, a few days back, Congress and its youth wing on Friday arranged protests at numerous places in Haryana, Punjab, and their joint capital Chandigarh against the holding of JEE and NEET during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Different resistance groups, including the Congress, have requested that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) be conceded because of the COVID-19 pandemic and floods in parts of the nation, even as the Union government has clarified that they will be held according to plan with due safety measures.
