As of December 31, 2021, Telangana’s total bank deposits totalled Rs 6.03 lakh crore. During the December quarter, advances increased by Rs 25,889 crores (or around 3.81%) to Rs 7.06 lakh crore. As of December 31, the credit deposit ratio had risen from 110.1 per cent to 117 per cent.
On Tuesday, the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) held its 32nd quarterly review meeting. Sunil Sharma, Special Chief Secretary, Ronald Rose, RBI Regional Director K Nikhila, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Commissioner Dr N Satyanarayana, SBI General Manager, and SLBC Telangana Convenor Krishan Sharma were among those present at the evaluation.
During the current fiscal year, banks in the state disbursed Rs 31,489 crore in short-term farm production loans, attaining 53% of the objective. According to Amit Jhingran, SBI Chief General Manager and SLBC President, agriculture term loans of Rs11,709 crore have been disbursed for investment credit, agriculture allied, infrastructure, and auxiliary industries.
During the current fiscal year, they disbursed Rs 610 crore in educational loans and Rs 3,259 crore in housing loans. In the priority sector, the banks collectively disbursed Rs 80,710 crore, attaining 55.9% of the yearly targets. They funded Rs 32,210 crore to micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, meeting 81.8 per cent of their targets.
The banks have 104.02 lakh PMJDY accounts on their books, with 83.8 lakh of them receiving RuPay cards. According to a press statement, they sanctioned Rs 8,299 crore and disbursed Rs 7,049 crore to MSME applicants under the Guaranteed Emergency Credit line.

Centre conspires to privatize profit-making national banks
The Bank Street employees in Koti staged a protest against the anti-people policies of the Central government as part of the two-day general strike on Monday. A large number of employees and officials of various banks took part in the protest, halting the operations of almost every bank in Greater Hyderabad. The protest was organized by the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and the All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA).
