Telangana: Assembly elections to be held as per schedule, says CM KCR

TRS (now BRS) President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao declared on Tuesday that the party had no plans to hold early elections, putting an end to all speculation. He stated that Assembly elections in Telangana would take place as per schedule.

He also stated that, with the exception of a few, all sitting MLAs would be retained as party candidates for the 2023 Assembly elections, and expressed confidence that the party would win for the third time with over 95 seats.

Addressing the party’s general body meeting at Telangana Bhavan here, Chandrashekhar Rao urged all legislators to work hard for the development and to reach out to people in their respective constituencies. He urged them to ensure effective implementation of the development and welfare programs, noting that they had less than a year before the schedule for the Assembly elections was announced next year.

The MLAs were directed to select 500 Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries from their respective constituencies as soon as possible. They were also asked to identify and allocate beneficiaries for the double-bedroom houses as soon as possible by completing the construction work. They have been advised to contact the government immediately if there are any problems in this regard.

The government is also planning to regularise 11.5 lakh acres of Podu lands in the state, which will benefit tribals. While 98% of the issues with the Dharani website have been resolved, the government intends to resolve the remaining 2% by holding constituency-wise Revenue Sadassulu (meetings).

“The party cadre should be fully prepared for the elections. All the MLAs and the party leaders should remain accessible to the people in their respective constituencies. Any negligence on their part will be considered seriously,” the TRS President said, instructing all MLAs to prepare a constituency-by-constituency progress report with details on programs implemented in their Assembly segments, as well as beneficiaries of government schemes.

He also asked them not to spare the BJP any longer and to effectively and consistently counter the BJP’s propaganda.

Munugode people reposed faith in TRS: KCR

The Chief Minister directed MLAs to develop effective strategies similar to the Munugode bypoll and to appoint an in-charge person for every 100 voters, which should be communicated to the party headquarters with full details.

Party leaders, including Ministers, were asked to organize Athmeeya Sammelans (reachout programs) to reconnect with various communities. Instead of conducting them for the sake of conducting them, he desired daylong genuine interactions with the people.

Chandrashekhar Rao stated that he would tour the districts soon to reach out to the people and that party working President KT Rama Rao and secretary general K Keshava Rao should inaugurate party district offices to strengthen the party from the grassroots. Party leaders were also told to make the necessary preparations by completing outstanding tasks within a specific timeframe.
