Telangana: Course on cybersecurity & safety to be offered by universities, colleges

From the academic year 2023-2024, the state universities and colleges will offer a new undergraduate course on Cyber Security and Safety.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) which established a committee comprising officials from the Police department, faculty of Osmania University, JNTU-H, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and IIT-Hyderabad for designing the course curriculum met here on Thursday.

During the meeting, which was chaired by TSCHE Chairman Prof. R Limbadri, discussions were held on the course curriculum and modalities (credit points) for the introduction of the course from the following academic year.

ISB signs MoU with Cyberabad Police to improve cyber security

On Thursday, the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct joint collaborative research activities on cyber security in areas of mutual interest.

According to reports, the ISB and SCSC agreed to collaborate on the publication of reports that inform policy practises in cyber security, as well as the development of projects for ISB’s AMPBA students to work on as a part of their coursework.

They will also hold joint conferences and workshops to bring academia, government, policy, and industry together.

In the presence of ISB Dean Prof. Madan Pillutla, the MoU was signed by Cyberabad Police DCP (Crimes) Kalmeshwar Shingenavar and ISB Institute of Data Science Executive Director Prof. Manish Gangwar.

According to Kalmeshwar, cybercrime has become a major challenge not only for India but for all law enforcement agencies across the world, since the pandemic.

Prof. Gangwar also expressed his delight that the ISB Institute of Data Science had joined forces with the Cyberabad Police in its efforts to strengthen cyber security through the use of state-of-the-art research in data science.
