Telangana government schools to hold special classes for slow learners

Telangana education minister, Sabitha Indra Reddy announced that special classes for students who are falling behind academically will be taught by volunteers from school alumni, local youth and NGOs

The minister stated during a review meeting on the new initiative at the Mandal Parishad Office in Maheshwaram constituency, “The initiative has been launched in Maheshwaram constituency and it would be extended to the entire Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.”

Slow learners from classes I to V would be identified during the program with the assistance of local public representatives.

Even though summer vacation has not yet ended, classes for them will be scheduled in local schools right away.

The initiative was launched to help slow learners catch up with the current educational load, as most students faced backlogs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many people missed online classes during the pandemic, while others were unable to access the internet and thus lost track of their progress.

Students’ academic performance, particularly in primary school, has suffered as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Students were promoted to the next class without proper assessment because educational institutions were closed and classes went online/digital during the pandemic. This has had an effect on their academic performance.
