Heatwave warnings have been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad for the next two days due to the soaring temperatures across the State.
Telangana is likely to experience temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal between April 26 and April 28 in isolated places.
The forecast predicts light to moderate amount of rain or thundershowers, but temperatures would reach over 41 degrees Celsius and may reach 45 degrees Celsius in over 10 districts.
Hyderabad may experience high temperatures that range between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and 41 to 45 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday which would classify as extremely hot temperatures.
“Isolated pockets of Telangana will likely experience temperatures above normal by 2°C to 4°C,” IMD stated, adding that extreme heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, and Jayashankar Bhupalapally.
Adilabad saw its highest maximum temperature of 43.3 degrees Celsius on Monday. Temperatures in the city have also been increasing. At its peak on Monday, Hyderabad experienced a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
The rise in temperature in the city has caused extreme heat conditions that are directly affecting human health. The State Meteorological Department has also warned people against going out in the sun between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Heatwave across Delhi
Along with Hyderabad, a severe heatwave is also affecting Delhi. More than 43 degrees Celsius was recorded at eight out of 12 stations in the national capital.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Safdarjung, the base station for Delhi, recorded the highest temperature for April in the last 11 years between 2012 and 2022.
According to IMD, the general weather is supposed to be mainly cloudy with light rain or drizzle, though the temperature may not dip so low.
