Telangana: Police seize 2.5 kg of ganja in Nizamabad

Two people belonging to Uttar Pradesh were arrested at the Armoor bus stand for possessing 2.5 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.25 lakh.

Armoor CI B Suresh Babu and his team visited the Armoor bus stand following reliable information that two people were moving suspiciously, according to Nizamabad ACP R Prabhakar Rao.

Ajay Sharma and Ajay were arrested by the police, and the ganja was seized. They claimed to be supplying ganja to Metpally and Ditchpally villages during interrogation. A police case has been registered and the two have been brought to court.

In another case, two people were arrested for allegedly transporting ganja, and the Hayathnagar police seized 1,300 kg of ganja, a DCM vehicle, and two mobile phones all worth Rs. 2.80 crores from them.

Narendra Harijan (29) and Chandresh Saketh (32), both residents of Hanuman Tehsil in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, were arrested. Penta Rao of East Godavari and Rajesh Kumar of Chattisgarh, who were also involved in the case are absconding.

According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, two others, Harijan and Chandresh, went to East Godavari in the DCM and met Penta Rao on October 2 to purchase ganja at the instance of Rajesh, who is a transport company owner.

“Penta Rao took their vehicle into the forest area where he loaded 1,300 kg of the ganja. The ganja is usually stored at a remote place in the interiors of the forest to avoid police raids and seizure. After loading the ganja, he handed over the vehicle to Harijan and Chandraseh,” he said.

It was reported that the Hayathnagar police apprehended the duo at Pedda Amberpet junction while they were transporting the consignment to Madhya Pradesh. Efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining two people who are currently absconding.
