Telangana stands 7th highest place in number of medical seats

Telangana is ranked seventh among the Indian states in terms of seats. According to a report released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamilnadu tops the list with 10725 seats, Karnataka comes in second with 101456 seats, and Maharashtra comes in third with 98956 seats, Uttar Pradesh comes in fourth with 90536 seats, and Telangana has 5040 seats.

There will be an additional 1200 MBBS seats available in the next academic year as a result of the Telangana government’s decision to open 8 new medical colleges. To implement its plan, the state government must receive approval from the National Medical Commission.

It is estimated that there are 91927 MBBS seats across the country, according to the health department of the central government.  It is estimated that 67523 MBBS seats were available in 2017-18, an increase of 24404 positions over the past five years.

It has been reported that the government has 322 government medical colleges in the country with 48212 MBBS seats, while the remaining 290 private medical colleges have 43915 seats. Therefore, government medical college seats are more than private medical college seats.

There are 1840 MBBS seats in the 11 government medical colleges, while there are 3200 seats in the 23 private medical colleges in Telangana. Experts predict that the cutoff will decrease by 10 marks compared to last year.

147 was the general NEET cutoff mark in 2020, while 113 was the cutoff mark for OBC, SC, and ST students. There were 138 general cut-off marks in 2021 while 108 were set for OBC, SC, and ST students.

It is likely that the general cut-off mark for the current year will fall between 125 and 130.  There is a possibility that the cut-off marks for OBC, SC, and ST will be 100. The number of rank holders who will be admitted to medical colleges in this year is expected to reach 1 lakh.
