Temporary fruit market to be set up at Pahadi Shareef and Batasingaram

The Telangana government is reportedly going to set up two temporary fruit markets, one at Batasingaram and the other at Pahadi Shareef, according to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.

In accordance with AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s directions, a meeting was held between cabinet ministers Mahmood Ali, Niranjan Reddy, Sabita Indra Reddy, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, and MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala. During their visit to the Pahadi Shareef, they examined the site where the market will be built.

According to a press release from the AIMIM, it was decided during the meeting that the government would set up two temporary markets, one at Batasingaram and another at Pahadi Shareef.

Government plans to construct a super speciality hospital at the Kothapet fruit market. The government is planning to build the largest fruit market yards at Koheda where the Kothapet market will be moved, the release said.

Akbaruddin Owaisi advocated setting up a new fruit market on waqf land during the recent budget session of the Telangana assembly.

High demand for fruits in country

Observing the need to encourage farmers to grow fruits in order to meet the demand of the growing population, Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Marketing S Niranjan Reddy said on Friday that the State government is currently constructing a new fruit market in Koheda village of Rangareddy district.

He said that this is also why cold storage has been established by Telangana Warehouse Development Corporation.

Niranjan Reddy had told market officials, traders, and farmers there that the demand and importance of fruit in the country have increased in recent years and will continue to grow over time.

Despite the large area under agricultural cultivation, horticultural crops were more important and valuable, he said.
